Is it safe to go on safari?
Yes, safety is our top priority, and you’re in experienced hands every step of the way.
Many of our small-group safaris are personally hosted by Rick MacSwain, founder of Network Travel. With over 30 years of global travel experience and deep knowledge of the region, Rick ensures that every detail is taken care of so you can relax and enjoy the journey with confidence.
What level of fitness is required?
Safaris are generally suitable for all fitness levels. Most activities involve light walking and game drives.
Can you accommodate dietary needs or mobility concerns?
Absolutely. Just let us know your preferences when booking.
What should I pack?
We’ll provide you with a detailed packing list and important travel tips before your departure, but here's a few essentials:
When is the best time to go on safari?
Thanks to its equatorial location, East Africa is a year-round safari destination. Temperatures remain warm throughout the seasons, and even during the green (or light rainy) periods, showers are typically short and refreshing—often arriving in the late afternoon or evening. The landscape stays lush, and wildlife viewing remains exceptional.
The prime safari season runs from June to October, when the dry weather creates ideal conditions for game viewing. In the Masai Mara, this period includes the legendary Great Migration, when millions of wildebeest and zebra cross the plains in a breathtaking natural spectacle.
From January to early March, a second dry window offers warm, sunny days and outstanding visibility—perfect for photography and spotting newborn wildlife. In Amboseli National Park, these months often deliver crystal-clear views of Mount Kilimanjaro, framed by herds of elephants roaming the dusty terrain.
But here’s the best part: there’s truly no bad time to visit East Africa. Every season offers something special—whether it’s the drama of the dry months or the emerald beauty and quieter camps of the green season.

What are the food expectations on safari?
Food plays an essential role in your safari experience—not just to keep you energized, but to enhance your overall enjoyment and well-being while traveling. We only work with exceptional safari lodges and camps known for their outstanding hospitality, hygiene, and culinary quality.
You can expect a mix of fresh, locally sourced ingredients prepared by professional chefs, often with a blend of international and regional flavors. Most accommodations offer a variety of options for every meal, including vegetarian and special dietary needs—which we communicate to each lodge in advance.
Typical meals include:
Breakfast: Fresh fruit, eggs made to order, bacon, beef / pork / chicken sausage, chicken wings, baked goods, cereals, local coffee or tea
Lunch: Light salads, grilled meats, pastas, and fresh breads / fruits, hamburgers, French fries, and chicken wings.
Dinner: Multi-course meals often enjoyed under the stars, with wine pairings or local beverages. Many lodges also offer sundowner cocktails, snacks during game drives, and bush dinners—adding unforgettable ambiance.
